FREE insulation for your home*
The Isle of Wight Footprint Trust is working with British Gas to provide free insulation to homes in your area, helping people to stay warmer this winter and save money on their energy bills. This is funded by British Gas through their Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and you do not need to be a British Gas customer to benefit.
Why should I insulate my home?
Most homes lose large amounts of heat through the walls and the roof. Insulation locks in your heat, so you won’t need to have your heating on as much to stay warm.
What does it involve?
It’s straight forward and takes less than a day to install. Loft insulation is a thick material simply rolled onto the loft floor. Cavity wall insulation is a filling blown into the gaps between the exterior walls. There’s little fuss or mess so you can get on with your daily routine.
How much money will it save me?
The average home could save up to £175 on your energy bills with loft insulation and up to £135 with cavity wall insulation*. It’s not just a one off saving either; it helps you save year after year.
British Gas’s free insulation offer is worth up to £1,000 and includes all materials, labour, scaffolding and vents.
Plus, if you are 70 or over or on eligible benefits and your loft is full, we may even be able to provide you with loft clearance support of up to £150.
Do I qualify for free insulation?
Just give British Gas a call on 0800 068 0032 quoting IOTH019 and they will arrange for an Energy Expert to visit and carry out a free assessment of your home. If you are on eligible benefits, you may even qualify for a £50 reward!

British Gas install in mainland Great Britain only. Not all homes are suitable for insulation.
Offer ends on 30th November 2012. Free insulation is subject to square meterage limitations and only applies to loft and cavity wall measures recommended by an appointed surveyor. Insulation beyond these limits is chargeable. Applicants will only be eligible for free measures where we can insulate a minimum of two thirds of the total loft space or total wall space (when applied to the whole property). For loft insulation, offer only applies where the thickness of existing insulation is less than 60mm. Offer includes up to £450 of scaffolding and up to £100 of vents, subject to availability. Offer excludes any specialist equipment. Tenants must seek their landlord’s permission. Offer only applicable to residential properties and excludes all other properties including commercial or part commercial premises. The Offer is subject to availability and subject to change or withdrawal at any time. Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
To qualify as a vulnerable customer eligible for the £50 payment, the customer has to meet one of the three following rules: (i) they need to be in receipt of either the State Pension Credit; (ii) be in receipt of the Child Tax Credit with an income below £16,190; or (iii) be on one of the following income related benefits: (Income Based Jobs Seekers Allowance, Income Support or Income Related Employment Support Allowance Credit) AND one of the following: (parental responsibility for a child under five, Child Tax Credit including a disability, a Disabled Child Premium, A Disability Premium or a Pensioner Premium).
The Applicant must supply the Referrer’s contact details to British Gas in order for both Applicant and Referrer to receive payment. The Applicant confirms that he/she has the Referrer’s consent to do this. British Gas can only accept applications from the Applicant and not the Referrer. A cheque for £50 will be sent to both Applicant and Referrer within 30 days of completion of the insulation installation. Referrers may refer more than one Applicant. Applicants must provide proof of their eligibility for the Offer, including proof of receipt of eligible benefits as set out above and/or proof of age and proof of their residential address. Free Insulation is limited to one per Applicant.
