Footprint Trust launches £500,000 Appeal

To mark the formal presentation of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service on Thursday 26th September 2013, The Footprint Trust charity launched a £500,000 appeal to fund its work over the next 5 years.

The Trust is appealing to many people who have stopped supporting national charities following revelations of obscenely high salaries.

The charity runs a number of projects on the Isle of Wight including; Warmahome, Adopt-A-Garden, trend upcycling café, and Wardening schemes and the popular annual Riverfest on Newport Quay.

Speaking for the local charity, Trustee Colin Withers said,

“The Trust has been working for the past 11 years to improve the island’s environment and to help local people.”

“The Trust is recognised for its work in helping those in greatest financial need, to obtain energy efficient heating systems, insulation and other assistance.”

“Since its launch in 2002 it has assisted and helped over 15,000 people, and we wish to build on this success.”

Old Computer and IT Equipment

The Footprint Trust is concerned about the large amounts of useable IT equipment that is destroyed or landfilled. We think it is better that it is reclaimed and re-used wherever it’s practicable.

We have teamed up with http://www.digitalrecycle.co.uk/ an Isle of Wight business that is WEEE directive compliant, which ensures that they protect the environment when reclaiming and recycling IT and computer equipment.

You can bring your old computers, laptops and smart phones to The Riverside Centre, Newport Quay, Isle of Wight PO30 2QR. Or email us your address and phone number and we will arrange collection; info@footprint-trust.co.uk

Business Partnerships

To further promote and support sustainablity we actively seek to work with the business community. We hope that businesses with a commitment to sustainable new buildings, innovative transport solutions, energy and water efficiency and renewable and low-carbon technology will work with us.

Supporting our annual Riverfest event is a very good way of showing your businesses’ commitment to environmental and social issues

To see an example of our work with businesses see these trailers from the Thin Green Line documentary, which was shown on the Community Channel during 2012.
We intend, through the media, the internet and at public events, to promote these concepts.

We hope that your business may consider making a donation, which can be made anonymously if you so wish, to the Trust’s work.
Please get in touch with us should you require any further information.
