The Footprint Trust holds Future Energy events every year to highlight energy conservation and to promote the need for sustainable renewable energy. We back wind power, solar energy and biomass as immediate available technology and will support other renewables as they become available, such as tidal turbines. The Isle of Wight is an ideal site for wind and solar power. The biggest threat to the landscape, wildlife and people of the Isle of Wight is man-made Climate Change and renewable clean energy is part of the answer. If you would like some guidance on whether to buy your own solar panels, or lease your roof to a company in return for free electricity – then download our guide… [PDF]
The Footprint Trust will continue to back small wind farms such as those proposed at Cheverton Down and Ventnor Golf Course. We will also support solar farms and biomass initiatives. We would like to see renewable energy installation being a condition of any large-scale new developments on the Isle of Wight.
