Islanders nominate local charity for award

Nationwide Building Society customers have nominated the Isle of Wight’s Footprint Trust to feature in their Community Match programme.

Community Match is a local charity voting scheme. The Footprint Trust are encouraging Islanders invited to vote for them with a blue token, issued in the local branches in; Newport, Ryde and Shanklin.

Should the local charity get the most votes they will receive a donation towards their work in helping low-income families.

The Trust assists around 1,000 local people a year, by reducing their fuel bills. They are recognised nationally and locally for their work in fighting fuel poverty, which is much higher on the Isle of Wight, in comparison to the rest of the south east.

Speaking for the Footprint Trust, Ray Harrington-Vail, said,

“We are delighted that Nationwide customers have nominated us, we would now urge people to vote for us in their nearest branch, voting closes on 31st March, so please do it next time you are in town… ”
