Out of fashion

The fashion industry relies on the public buying new clothing every season and disposing of last year’s clothing.

Millions of tonnes of perfectly good clothing goes to landfill, and some to charity shops or the textile industry for recycling. We all can get fed up with certain items in our wardrobe, so here is an idea.

Have a clothes swap coffee morning!

Everyone brings along, say, three items of good quality clean clothing. Those present swap the items in return for a small donation to your favourite charity, The Footprint Trust. Going on a course to learn how to revitalise boring old clothing into something new and trendy could also be an idea. Make your own unique fashion, put on an alternative fashion show at your local pub, school or community centre…
