Rallying Call to back wind power on Cheverton Down..

The Footprint Trust is calling on green-minded Islanders to show their support for the proposed wind turbines on Cheverton down, which will generate energy 85% of the time, providing power for some 4700 homes. The application has been resubmitted with extra information thus we all get another chance to write in and support this positive initiative.

Write your letter of support to: Mr Bill Murphy, Seaclose Offices, Fairlee Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2QS.

It is important to make it clear that the benefit of the turbines outweighs the (minimal) effects on the landscape, and will make a contribution towards out Future Energy needs.

Renewable energy technologies could meet 40 per cent of global electricity demand by 2050, that’s the conclusion of new research from the Helsinki University of Technology, unveiled at the Climate Congress conference in Copenhagen earlier this year (2009).
