Riverside gets boost from the White Stuff staff!

Almost the entire head office of White Stuff will be deserting their London offices to come to the Isle of Wight next Friday (19th June). The 100 members of staff will be heading for the Riverside Centre in the Island’s capital to embark on a miracle make-over of their grounds.

The Riverside Centre provides a range of services for disabled and non-disabled people; works with a range of voluntary, statutory and independent organisations; and is the home of several other organisations. Over a thousand people a week use its facilities.

White Stuff is the fashion lifestyle brand that sells ‘Lovely Clothes for Lovely People’ in 60 shops in the UK and a quirky and colourful website.

White Stuff’s HR Director, Victoria Hodges explained how the team at White Stuff would be involved:

“Our Head Office team will be sanding down benches, planting aromatic herbs, painting handrails and oiling down a wooden sculpture – quite a bit different to the day-to-day office stuff. As a company we support charitable organisations throughout the year and we thought this project would be a great way to lend support to the centre, and for the people at White Stuff to have a hands-on experience at the same time.”

White Stuff contacted the Footprint Trust a couple of weeks ago, looking for a suitable challenge for their staff. The Trust, based at the Riverside Centre, was able to link them up with the challenge to give the centre a redecoration.

Speaking for the Footprint Trust Ray Harrington-Vail said,

“The Riverside Centre is a focal point on the Isle of Wight. The work it does with disabled people is renown. It also provides help and assistance to many other organisations and charities, who in turn assist others. Thousands of people will be able to enjoy the improved environment which White Stuff staff have created.”

“The Footprint Trust works with all sections of the community to improve the local environment – we were delighted to be able to work with White Stuff and for them to achieve so much…”
